Film emulation test inspired by the 2019 film The Lighthouse, directed by Robert Eggers and cinematography by Jarin Blaschke.
I shot in S-Log3 on my Sony α7 III at Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver, BC and graded using FilmConverts new Nitrate update in Premiere Pro.
The grade itself is pretty simple.
I started with a channel mixer to replace all reds with greens and blues in the footage, achieving the orthochromatic look.
I added a glow to the super-bright areas of the shots, emulating film halation.
I used FilmConvert's Kodak T-Max 100 film stock emulation with Super 35 grain, since that's the closest I could get to the Eastman Double-X 5222 Eggers and Jaschke used in the actual production.
The aspect ratio is 1.19:1.
